The cute, grotesque and surreal meet in LIFT’s first art show of 2012! Detroit-area artists Heather Hansma and Josh Buckenberger are joined by Austin-based illustrator Cody Schibi for the LOVESICK exhibit, featuring over 20 new works by the trio. Bask in adorable, horrifying and moody new works by the trio opening on February 4th, just in time for Valentine’s Day!

The exhibit runs through Sunday, March 4, 2012

Heather Hansma is an illustrator and lowbrow gallery artist based in the Detroit area. She studied illustration at the College for Creative Studies. You can generally find her Puff Bun™ characters participating in some form of pop culture parody.

Cody Schibi is a freelance illustrator based out of Austin, Texas. His artwork has been deemed “gracefully grotesque” with a mix of precise, fine line detail and dripping watercolors that depict horrifying yet beautiful images. His bizarre creations have been inspired by an obsession with horror films (predominately from the 1980s) as well as friends & fellow artists.

Josh Buckenberger is a Detroit-based artist with a dream, a mustache and a drawing implement in his hand. He studied Illustration at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. His work has been shown at such galleries as CPOP and the Russell Industrial.
